The Assistant Director, Career Development will work closely with the Director, Strategic Projects and the Career Counseling team to provide comprehensive career services to students within particular major clusters.
Key Responsibilities
● Providing career coaching to students on topics including:
○ major selection
○ experiential learning opportunities, including internship search strategies
○ job search strategies
○ interviewing skills
○ resume and cover letter preparation
○ networking and alumni engagement
○ employer and industry research
○ graduate school process
○ academic integration of experiential learning reflections
● Present workshops and group meetings
● Support experiential learning preparation, competency assessment, and programming
● Develop and review Career Community content to support student career development and exploration; communicate with faculty across campus in support of Major Clusters model.
● Collaborate with the Director, Strategic Projects on Annual Report data collection and publication as well as biennial focus group/student survey effort.
● Contribute to other Gateway Career Center programs, such as: serve on Leopard Launch planning team, serve as a Summer Funding application reader, and participate in health professions mock interview program.
Team
● Work collaboratively with all the Gateway Career Center staff to support Lafayette College students
● Create and deliver relevant workshop content for students
● Produce additional reports as needed
● Support the Career Center overall strategy as a team member
● Perform other duties as assigned

● Excellent communication skills—written and oral (email, in person, phone)
● Must be able to solve problems and make good solid decisions
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite to support the delivery of career center programs. Experience with Handshake and CRM systems a plus.
● Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Qualifications
● Masters Degree in Higher Education, Counseling or related field
● 2+ years experience working specifically with undergraduate college students will take precedence
● Knowledge of career counseling techniques and theory strongly preferred
