The Accounting Technician I serves as a critical member of the Advancement Operations team, ensuring that all philanthropic contributions to Lafayette College are accurately recorded, receipted, and reported in alignment with IRS regulations, CASE standards, and college policies. This position plays a key role in upholding data accuracy and financial integrity across advancement systems, while also supporting the effective stewardship of donors.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Gift Accounting and Data Integrity, the Accounting Technician I is responsible for ensuring that the donation and the information that accompanies a gift to the college is accurately represented in our CRM database and subsequent reporting.

ACCOUNTING TECH I

SUMMARY:
This operational position manages progressive transactions and reconciliation of transactions
and records, tax reporting, and data systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
● Receives, records, prepares, and processes routine deposits and funds for assigned departments of the College.
● Completes data entry, transactions, gift reconciliation, etc., in accordance with company policy & procedures and works with the end user to rectify any discrepancies.
● Processes credit card payments.
● Assemble the online gift entry file along with entering the online gifts into Ellucian CRM Advance.
● Responsible for the calendar management and scheduling for the AVP of Advancement, the Senior Executive Director, as well as other staff in Advancement Operations.
● This position will be the back-up for data entry updates in the CRM.
● Prepare and send receipts for various types of donations, including checks received, IRA contributions, and stock transfers.
● Volunteer Confidentiality Agreements through Docusign as well as the import into CRM for volunteer engagement.
● Assist with the review of procedures and documentation for the department.
● Ensures professional compliance with local, state, and federal law as applicable to department work, e.g., IRS regulations for Philanthropic gifts, FERPA, HIPAA, etc.
● Other related duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
● Associate degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
● Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
● Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
● Attention to detail, including experience performing accurate self-review of completed assignments
● Some overtime, weekend or evening hours may be required during high volume gift entry times or to assist with campus events such as Reunion and Family Weekend.

This is a full-time, Union position.
