• Coordinate all aspects of the College’s Fitness Center and Group Fitness program to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate all fitness center staff made up of students and part-time employees.
• Develop, implement and plan instruction for general users on proper equipment use and exercise prescription
• Coordinate all aspects of group fitness classes by recruiting instructors, scheduling facilities and evaluating participant experience.  This includes the ability to teach Group Fitness.
• Implement student employee handbooks, training materials and risk management procedures for the fitness center staff.
• Develop procedures and guidelines for personal training, fitness orientations, fitness assessments, and group fitness classes.
• Ensure that outcome assessments and overall program evaluation summaries are completed with regularity.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, updated safety checklists, regular inspections, repair history and necessary work requests for fitness center and equipment.
• Serve as a first responder, when necessary, keep a properly stocked first aid kit supplies, document and refer all injuries.
• Create marketing plans and produce materials to promote programs and activities, including flyers, website updates, posters, newspaper ads, and digital ads.
• Assist with all responsibilities of facility management including scheduling, locker registration, work orders, and rotating weekend duty for recreational facility.
• Utilize and master software systems used by the department to organize workflows and program functions.

• Develop and maintain accurate records and data pertaining to user loads, program participation, equipment maintenance.
• Serve as chairperson of the department’s risk management committee.
• Performance of all other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Recreation Services.

Qualifications: Master’s degree. Two to three years of experience with exercise equipment instruction and teaching group fitness classes. Demonstrated ability to train and supervise staff. Proficiency with Excel and IM Leagues. Preferred: NSCA, ACSM certification and/or recognized group fitness instructor certification. Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor certified.  Experience with robust survey software (e.g., Qualtrics), facility scheduling software (e.g., EMS), and the use of online-stores (e.g., TouchNet) and online classrooms (e.g., Moodle/Spaces).

Compensation & Hours: This position is 12-month administrative position that includes medical insurance, generous retirement benefits, and twenty-two vacation days in addition to College recognized holidays (thirteen plus two floating days). Weekend and evening work is necessary to accomplish expected outcomes.
