The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Lafayette College plays a dual role, supporting both the athletic and administrative functions of the Men’s Basketball program. This individual will assist the Head Coach in all areas of team development—including coaching, recruiting, and mentoring student-athletes—while also managing the operational logistics that support the daily execution of the program. Primary Responsibilities:
● Assist with planning and leading practices, skill development sessions, and game strategy.
● Work closely with individual student-athletes to enhance performance, mental preparation, and conditioning.
● Foster a team culture rooted in leadership, accountability, and personal growth.
● Support student-athlete academic success by encouraging responsibility and collaborating with academic support staff.
● Identify, evaluate, and recruit high-achieving student-athletes who fit Lafayette’s academic and athletic profile.
● Cultivate relationships with prospective student-athletes, their families, and coaches.
● Guide recruits through the admissions process in coordination with the athletic and admissions offices.
● Oversee team travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, meals, and itineraries.
● Manage scheduling of games, practices, and facility use in collaboration with the Head Coach and athletics staff.
● Track and manage team budgets, coordinate operational expenses, and assist in purchasing.
● Coordinate team technology, including film analysis, scouting reports, and performance data tools.
● Serve as a liaison with campus partners, including compliance, academics, and administration.
● Support alumni relations, fundraising events, and community outreach efforts.
● Promote the program’s accomplishments in collaboration with Lafayette’s marketing and communications teams.
● Participate in on-campus and local events that strengthen the program’s visibility and impact.
Qualifications:
● Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level.
● Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters Degree preferred.
● Upon position acceptance, successful completion of PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

They must demonstrate a commitment to adhering to Lafayette College, Patriot League, and NCAA rules and regulations. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
