The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement: Reunion and Homecoming reports to the Director of Alumni Engagement and is responsible for managing activities associated with Reunion Weekend, Homecoming, all class-related volunteers, as well as any initiatives determined by the Director of Alumni Engagement. This position will work collaboratively with all members of the alumni engagement team, leveraging a strong class affinity at Lafayette College to engage alumni at important milestone events. This position will supervise a student worker.

The ideal candidate for this role has experience engaging and mobilizing large audiences. Expertise on how to manipulate data and develop actionable analytics is critical. Attention to detail, facility with new technologies, event planning, ability to manage several high-visibility projects simultaneously and entrepreneurial mindset are imperative. All members of the team are expected to support Lafayette College and the Advancement Team’s key initiatives, major events, projects and strategic goals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential roles and responsibilities for this position include creation and oversight of the following areas:

Reunion: Produce Reunion for 14 milestones and their shoulder year classes every spring.

● Direct all aspects of Reunion weekend activities, which brings hundreds of alumni and friends back to campus
● Recruit and manage milestone class volunteers
● Drive establishment of Reunion attendance goals with the Director of Alumni Engagement and alumni engagement team
● Implement volunteer management best practices in terms of succession, appreciation, and recognition

● Work with the Annual Giving Reunion philanthropy staff member to support their fundraising efforts
● Analyze metrics and make strategic plans based on key data points including young alumni, volunteerism, etc.
● Conduct alumni engagement visits as necessary

First Year Alumni: Design and execute a comprehensive strategy for transitioning students to first-year alumni

● Consider and develop activities around Homecoming and Reunion that create supportive relationships among brand-new alumni
● Engage first time reunion attendees in unique program designed to educate them on how to be a lifelong engaged alumni
● Work closely with Assistant Director of Regional programming to support first year engagement efforts

Homecoming: Build a strong fall event centering around student and family engagement opportunities

● Work with the Office of Student Involvement and Associate Director of Family Engagement to create a robust series of events in the fall centered around Homecoming or Lafayette-Lehigh Rivalry game.
● Incorporate milestone years in Homecoming celebrations, allowing time during the weekend to steward class volunteers
● Determine key metrics with the Director of Alumni Engagement and alumni engagement team
● Incorporate affinities program opportunities during the weekend events

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Communications, Marketing, or Event Management)
● Three to five years of higher education experience

KEY COMPETENCIES

● Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
● Familiarity with alumni engagement strategies and best practices.
● Proficiency in using relevant software and tools (Microsoft Office, CRM systems, Google suite, Hustle etc.).
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during events, as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires an individual to be able to support the set-up and oversight of events both on and off campus. The ability to travel independently, lift up to 30 lbs and work nights and weekends is required.
