The Physics Department of Lafayette College, a highly selective undergraduate institution with programs in the arts, sciences, and engineering, has an opening for a laboratory and demonstration coordinator. The appointment is expected to start on 1 July 2026.
The coordinator will:
1) work with faculty and the Department’s technician to develop laboratory experiments for both existing and new courses at all undergraduate levels,
2) teach between four and six laboratory sections each semester,
3) maintain laboratory equipment and computers,
4) coordinate laboratories for various courses to ensure the necessary apparatus is available for each,
5) work with faculty and the technician to maintain and enhance the department’s collection of physics demonstrations, and
6) maintain and update the laboratory manuals.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in physics or a closely related field and an avid interest in teaching Physics. We are open to applications from those who may not have taken a traditional path through physics programs.
