Lafayette College invites applications for the position of Director of the College’s teaching center, the Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (CITLS), beginning July 2025. We seek a dynamic, experienced, and collaborative director, who will provide pedagogical and programmatic vision and leadership at an institution dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education as articulated in the College’s Mission Statement.

Reporting to the Office of the Provost, the Director of the Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship is responsible for working with faculty at all career stages to develop and implement faculty development programming related to pedagogy and informed by scholarship of teaching and learning, with areas of emphasis including, but not limited to, inclusive and equity-minded pedagogies, technology and educational practices, and communities of curricular engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Provide leadership and vision for a Center that works collaboratively with faculty and staff across the institution
● Oversee and coordinate with Center staff, faculty liaisons, and student fellows and assistants
● Develop, guide, and support initiatives that foster innovative and inclusive pedagogy
● Promote a campus culture that values ongoing enhancement of teaching and learning
● Facilitate collaborative initiatives with academic departments and programs, as well as the College Writing Program, Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education, Office of the Dean of Advising and Co-curricular Programming, Information Technology Services, Libraries, etc.
● Chair and work with the CITLS advisory committee
● Direct the new faculty orientation program
● Lead and organize workshops and similar programming on pedagogical topics
● Provide individual consultations on teaching and pedagogy, classroom visitation, and faculty mentoring
● Engage in and disseminate current research on teaching and learning
● Support faculty-led scholarship on teaching and learning
● Pursue grants to support pedagogical initiatives
● Communicate effectively with a broad and diverse array of campus partners
● Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and fiscal management

Qualifications

● Terminal degree in an academic discipline
● At least 3 years of experience in higher education with knowledge of curricular design, learning theories, and instructional technology
● Knowledge of innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in undergraduate teaching, including, but not limited to, inclusive and equity-minded pedagogies, civic engagement and problem-based learning, hybrid and multi-media approaches, and critical conversations around educational practices and technology
● Commitment to inclusive excellence. Ability to communicate with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students across all areas of the curriculum
● Strong collaborative and communication skills
● Managerial and budgetary experience
● Experience with grant writing and grant management
