The Video Marketing Producer is a creative thinker responsible for building and maintaining the Lafayette College brand through strategic visual storytelling. The successful candidate should combine several key skills, including the ability to concept, plan, manage, capture, edit, caption, publish, and archive videos and footage, audio, and graphics. As a team member in Lafayette’s Communications Division, this position plays a key role in bringing compelling stories of the College and its people to life as well as supporting College and divisional objectives. This role includes meeting project objectives, managing projects in different stages of production, using a variety of cinematographic techniques, editing to deadline, working alongside student and freelance resources, and effectively balancing an array of video and photo requests from across the division in service to the College community.

The Video Marketing Producer will consult with campus stakeholders, collaborate with divisional colleagues, participate in and contribute to content development, tailor content to different audiences, leverage divisional processes for delivering on-time projects and related footage, and stay abreast of videographic trends. The position’s direct responsibility is to plan and implement video and graphic content for Lafayette’s social media channels and websites, including but not limited to news and storytelling, event coverage, and special assignments.

To successfully accomplish the goals of this position, the Video Marketing Producer will:
● Generate documentary, informational, and promotional videos that convey the story of Lafayette and its people in authentic, captivating, and genuine ways consistent with the College’s brand and messaging priorities.
● Produce short-form videos and graphics packages for distribution on social media and websites.
● Quickly and capably create content throughout the academic year.
● Document the intellectual, artistic, community, and organizational life of the campus.
● Contribute concepts that meet specific project goals.
● Develop production schedules that meet requestor needs.
● Manage all aspects of video production, including conceiving, storyboarding, shooting, and editing.
● Determine appropriate scale, length, and pacing of productions.
● Film aesthetically pleasing and appropriate visuals.
● Capture high-quality audio and make music choices that enhance the emotional impact of the productions.
● Apply strong post-production processes appropriate for each project.
● Adhere to specific timetables and deadlines.
● Package projects for use across multiple channels.
● Maintain the digital assets by following a naming, tagging, and archiving structure.
● Maintain the College’s brand standards.
● Adhere to, maintain, and continually be aware of accessibility standards.

The ideal candidate will have:
● BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university in photography, videography, journalism, advertising, communications, marketing or PR, preferably at an educational institution.

● At least five years of professional experience in a videographic and graphics field.

● Videographic skills that include:
○ Extensive knowledge of both the artistic and technical qualities of videography.
○ The ability to produce long-form videos while also being adept at producing short-form videos of 90 seconds or less.
○ Extensive experience with videographic equipment and software.
○ Extensive experience with video and sound equipment.
○ Extensive experience with Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
○ Proficiency with photographic equipment and software.

● Graphic and design skills
○ Extensive experience producing.
○ Proficiency with still and motion graphics.
○ Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects).
○ Proficiency with Mac and PC platforms and advanced office software.

● Management skills
○ Proven project-management and organizational skills.
○ Strong creative-thinking mindset.
○ Ability to take initiative in developing on-brand messaging.
○ Demonstrated strong videography and editing skills and high attention to detail.
○ Ability to work under pressure and set priorities within a fast paced environment.
○ Ability to set and meet deadlines, particularly those requiring very quick turnaround, on an ongoing basis.
○ Willingness to work during non-standard business hours.
○ Ability to work on multiple projects at a time, both independently and as part of a team.
○ Maintain, repair, and organize digital video, audio, and lighting equipment.

○ Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment around a College campus.
○ Must possess the interest and ability to secure drone certification if not already in hand at the time of appointment.
