Lafayette College seeks a part-time staff member to fulfill an important role at the Lafayette Inn. The staff member is responsible for establishing and maintaining the highest level of hospitality and welcoming service to potential and current guests. The team member will perform customer service duties in a friendly and professional manner at all times, and ensure that the guests have an enjoyable experience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to answering the Inn’s phone, responding timely and professionally to the Inn’s email, listening and providing assistance to the guests needs, booking and confirming room reservations, and checking guests in and out of the Inn. The team member will work closely with other Lafayette Inn Staff to ensure a quality experience for all guests and may be asked to assist in other areas as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
● Welcomes guests and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries
● Have full working knowledge of food and beverage items being offered for breakfast
● Optimizes guest’ satisfaction by booking reservations in person or by telephone.
● Keeps guest room turnovers on schedule by working with other Inn staff
● Strong computer and organizational skills
● Processes guest payments in compliance with Lafayette College protocol
● Maintains Inn’s inventory and equipment; anticipating needed supplies
● Maintains confidentiality of personal and financial information of guests.
● Maintains operations by following established Inn policies and procedures
● Commitment to making guests feel welcome and comfortable
● Follow all Health & Safety procedures and be familiar with emergency protocols
● Be able to work independently and as part of a team
● Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple items at once
● Other duties as assigned by Innkeeper
Lafayette Inn staff should have very good interpersonal skills that include practicing the utmost discretion and confidentiality, being able to work collaboratively with other College staff, being pleasant and accommodating to guests, and being responsive to the needs of the Inn guests.
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous customer service/hospitality experience is preferred. This is a temporary part-time seasonal summer position of approximately 3-5 days per week. The total weekly hours are anticipated to be around 10-15 hours per week based on staffing needs. This is a temporary position for summer 2025. Applicants must be able to start work on May 5th, 2025 or shortly after and be able to work consistently through until August 2025. The expected days and hours that may be offered in this position would be Sunday to Thursday nights from 4pm until 7pm.
