Lafayette College, a highly selective, private liberal arts college of 2,700 undergraduates, located in the picturesque Lehigh Valley and the historic city of Easton, PA (just 75 minutes from both New York City and Philadelphia), plans to appoint an admissions professional to help lead the College’s effort to recruit, select and enroll new classes of students. Seasonal position, with work usually beginning in mid-October and concluding in early March. In order to meet daily goals, the individual must be able to work 20-30 hours per week. Some work between December 26 and January 2 is expected (specific details can be worked out at time of offer). This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position, with the opportunity to return each year.
General Responsibilities:
● Attend training sessions and all meetings related to their work
● Work with spreadsheets (Excel and Google sheets)
● Calculate the grade point averages of academic courses from applicants’ high school transcripts
● Add calculations and related information to each student’s record in database
● Maintain information about particular courses and high schools in database or spreadsheets
● Maintain daily contact with supervisor and be willing to accept feedback
Qualifications:
High School diploma is required. Excellent communication, time management, decision-making, attention to details, and organizational skills are expected, as well as the ability to work individually and as part of a team. Must be able to keep pace, be responsive to deadlines and feedback, and work well under pressure. Speed and accuracy are critical. Ability to understand and perform math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), use a calculator, work with Excel/Google sheets, database systems, and computers in general are required. Fast paced work environment. The individual must have access to a private space with high-speed internet and/or be willing to come into the office. A laptop computer will be provided.
