Lafayette College seeks a part-time staff member to fulfill an important role at the Lafayette Inn. The staff member is responsible for providing high levels of customer service to all guests by providing prompt breakfast service, forecasting food selection based on guests’ needs, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all menu items, including dietary restrictions. The breakfast server will perform customer service duties in a friendly and professional manner at all times, and ensure that the customers have an enjoyable dining experience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to ordering and stocking daily breakfast items to include dietary restrictions, forecasting food and beverage needs for guests, providing food and beverage service in compliance with Inn procedures, and cleaning and maintaining the breakfast area. The breakfast staff works closely with other Lafayette Inn staff to ensure a quality experience for all guests and may be asked to assist in other areas of the Inn as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
● Have full working knowledge of food and beverage items.
● Serve food and beverages in a professional, courteous manner in accordance with the Inn’s standards.
● Clean designated areas throughout the shift
● Complete designated opening and closing routines
● Follow all hygiene requirements
● Clean and refill condiments for breakfast.
● Set tables to Inn policy.
● Ensure food items are adequately stocked.
● Commitment to making guests feel welcome and comfortable
● Follow all Health & Safety procedures and be familiar with emergency protocols.
● Other duties as assigned.
Lafayette Inn staff should have very good interpersonal skills that include practicing the utmost discretion and confidentiality, being able to work collaboratively with other College staff, being pleasant and accommodating to guests, and being responsive to the needs of the Inn guests.
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous dining/culinary experience is preferred. Preferred applicants have prior experience in a customer service role. This is a part-time position of approximately 5 days per week for 4 hours a day. The total hours are expected to be around 20 hours per week. This is a seasonal position and applicants should expect to have periods of time off when Lafayette College is not in session. Applicants must be able to begin work at 7am and have both Saturday and Sunday availability.
