Lafayette College is currently looking for a full-time Accounting Technician.  This individual will be responsible for the following:

  • General Accounting: This position is responsible for the daily upload of campus-wide Transfer of Charges into the Banner ERP system along with keying journal entries and budget entries. Additionally, the position processes the weekly upload of facilities FAMIS work orders as well as monthly uploads of various department charges for Pcard, Bookstore, Dining Services, WB Mason and Reprographics.
  • Gift Accounting Processing: This position is responsible for daily review of the Development Office gift entry to compile the weekly wire to the Endowment. This position is also responsible for various monthly general ledger gift account reconciliations and any related journal entries as needed.
  • Cashiering: This position is responsible to initiate wires and approve templates for wires.
  • This position functions as a back up for the Cashier to receive, record and prepare deposits for all monies received by the College. Additional back up duties include:  maintaining and disbursing petty cash funds, distributing payroll checks, processing credit card transactions, and downloading online tuition payments.
  • Student Accounts: This position is to provide customer service to parents and students regarding billing questions as well as printing student bills as requested.
  • Accounts Payable Processing: This position is responsible for the monthly journal entry of wires in Banner for employee benefit payment and cashier wires. This position is also responsible for functioning as a back up for processing invoices for payment in Banner, printing and distributing the accounts payable checks and filing the paid invoices.
  • Miscellaneous: Other related duties as assigned.


Associate degree in accounting or a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.  This individual is required to work at a rapid pace and have a high level of integrity and discretion; position requires a background check and is bonded.  Individual must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on good customer service; teamwork and attention to detail, including self-review.  Keyboarding skills, along with working knowledge of Excel and email are also required.
