Lafayette College is excited to identify our next Director of Intercultural Development. The Director will be a central part of a team of dynamic and dedicated faculty, staff, and students working to enrich the learning experience for all by cultivating a diverse and inclusive community.

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director is a 12-month position that oversees Intercultural Development, Gender and Sexuality Programs, International Student Advising, and provides key support for College-wide programming initiatives. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a record of strong interpersonal and administrative skills as well as a history of building collaborative partnerships with faculty and staff. The successful applicant will be dedicated to meeting students where they are on the learning continuum and development process providing ongoing mentorship and guidance.

  • Oversees all operations of the Lafayette College Office of Intercultural Development including Gender and Sexuality Programs and International Student
  • Develop student mentoring and advising relationships through formal and/or informal interactions.
  • Supervises a professional staff consisting of the Assistant Director of Intercultural Development, the Assistant Director of Intercultural Development/Coordinator of Gender and Sexuality Programs, and the Assistant Director of Intercultural Development/International Student
  • Maintains office budgets and tracks
  • Facilitate the provision of formal and informal advising for cultural, affinity-based, student organizations either directly or through supervision of professional staff members focused on specific
  • Plan and implement small and large scale programs and events to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion including new student orientation and welcome weeks, heritage months, and collaborations with academic departments and student
  • Partner with the Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Students, the Director of Student Involvement, and other members of the Campus Life division to cater to student support and programmatic
  • Work in concert with the Dean of Students to ensure that all students are well-supported in their educational pursuits and that the residential and educational experiences of students are
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Admissions, Financial aid, Advising and Co-curricular Programs, Provost’s Office and College Relations to recruit and retain a diverse student population and to support and cultivate a strong alumni
  • Partner with College Relations and the Dean of Students to cultivate the McDonough Network affinity group, serving and connecting current students and
  • Remain current with best practices in social justice and
  • Collaborate with other key campus offices/personnel on applicable issues/topics.
  • Serve on Division and College-wide committees as requested by the Dean of
  • Participate in the College’s On-Call Emergency Response team and be available to assist the College in crisis response, including bias-response.
  • Serve as a member of the Student Support and Intervention Team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Counseling or related
  • At least 5 years of experience in multicultural/intercultural
  • Experience in a predominantly residential liberal arts
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for and with
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with
  • Experience supervising and leading professional
  • Experience successfully managing
  • Experience with and theoretical understanding of co-curricular and co-curricular education.
  • Experience with assessment and learning outcome
  • Working knowledge of theory related to social justice, race, pedagogy and student development.
  • Ability to network and build relationships with staff colleagues across campus, regionally, and
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Experience serving as a Designated School Official (DSO)
