REPORTS TO:   Supervisor, Mechanical Trades, through Assistant Supervisor Mechanical Trades.


  1. Perform and demonstrate journeyman proficiency and experience in maintenance, repairs and minor new construction involving at least one of the following trade categories.
    • Electrical-commercial and industrial wiring (low, medium, and high voltage).
    • Plumbing -fixture installation, pumps, sanitary and heating
    • Refrigeration/Air conditioning/Heating Ventilation – commercial and industrial, including water treatment, and pneumatic and electrical controls
    • Mechanical Maintenance – internal combustion engines, air compressors, motors, generators, and Work with little or no supervision following broad written or verbal directions
  2. Read and work from drawings and perform mathematical calculations normal to journeymen tradesmen.
  3. Identify and seek out solutions to problem areas and solve these problems through their own resources or those of others
  4. Possess a detailed knowledge of the campus and its mechanical systems.
  5. Work from ladders, at heights, in confined spaces, under extreme physical conditions for prolonged periods of time within the constraints of safety and security.
  6. Demonstrate willing to work overtime for projects of an important or emergency nature including planned overtime as well as emergency call-ins.
  7. Physical Strength: must be able to lift up to 75lbs.; exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently.
  8. Possess a broad familiarity with procurement sources for materials and supplies that are normally used, including availabilities, and cost.
  9. Perform other tasks related to the maintenance and repair of college facilities as assigned including tasks associated with higher pay levels for training purposes.
